Privacy Policy

The short version: we do not want your files, we do not keep them, and we have no account system to attach them to. Everything below is a specific description of what actually happens, not a general statement of intent.

Files you upload to convert or edit

An uploaded file is written to temporary storage on our server, processed, and made available to you as a download. A cleanup job runs every minute and permanently deletes any job directory older than 1 hour. That deletion covers both the file you uploaded and the converted output.

After 1 hour the file is gone and cannot be recovered by you or by us. If a deletion ever fails it is logged as an error rather than passing silently, so it can be found and dealt with.

Your files are never opened, reviewed, shared, sold, or used to train anything. They are processed automatically by the conversion tools and nothing else touches them.

Video and audio you download

Media downloads work differently and more privately. When you paste a link, we resolve it to a direct media URL and stream the data through to your browser. In the standard path the video is never written to our disks at all - it passes through and is gone.

Two cases are the exception: trimming a clip to a range, and extracting audio as MP3. Both have to process the file on our servers, so it is written to the same temporary storage as an upload and deleted on the same 1 hour schedule.

Your IP address

We use your IP address for one purpose: rate limiting. It is stored in a short-lived counter so we can cap usage per address and keep the free tools available to everyone rather than to whoever automates hardest. The counters expire on their own.

We do not build a profile from your IP address, we do not link it to the contents of your files, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

Cookies and tracking

This site runs Google Analytics 4 to count page views and see which tools people actually use. It sets Google's own _ga cookies in your browser and sends Google your IP address, page URL, referrer, and general device and browser details. Google processes that data on our behalf; their handling of it is covered by Google's privacy policy.

What it never receives is anything about your files. Filenames, file contents, the URLs you paste into the downloader and the results of any conversion are not sent to Google or to any other third party. Analytics sees which page you were on, not what you did with it.

There are no advertising cookies, no advertising pixels, no session recorders, and no other third-party trackers on this site. If you would rather not be counted, any content blocker or your browser's Do Not Track setting will stop it, and nothing on the site depends on analytics working.

One first-party cookie may be set, named snapfetch_session, when the optional job-history feature is switched on. It holds a randomly generated token and nothing else - no name, no email, no identity. It exists so your own browser can show your recent jobs.

What that history stores is deliberately minimal: a ticket number, which tool ran, the status, and a timestamp. Filenames are truncated before they are written, never stored in full, because filenames themselves routinely contain personal information. The history expires after 24 hours and holds at most the 50 most recent entries. It never extends the 1 hour file deletion - a past entry shows what you did, not a file you can retrieve.

What we never collect

• No account, username, or password - there is no signup
• No email address for using the tools on this site
• No payment details - the tools are free and there is nothing to buy
• No advertising or cross-site tracking identifiers
• No contents, text, or metadata extracted from your files for any purpose

Server logs

Like any web server, ours records request logs for debugging and abuse prevention - timestamps, requested paths, status codes and IP addresses. Logs rotate and are not used to build user profiles.

Your rights

Because we hold no account and delete files after 1 hour, there is usually nothing stored about you to access, correct, or delete by the time you would ask. If you believe we hold data about you and want it removed, write to hello@snapfetch.app and we will deal with it.

If you are in the EU or UK, the lawful basis for the limited processing described above is legitimate interest: delivering the conversion you asked for and protecting the service from abuse.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes to how files are handled will be described here rather than quietly folded in.
