When to use WebP to JPG
Convert when the destination will not take WebP or when the trade-offs of JPG suit you better. A WebP may have been saved either lossily or losslessly depending on the tool that made it, and it can carry an alpha channel. JPG is the most universally supported image format and compresses photographs efficiently. It has no alpha channel, so transparency is flattened onto white. Because the source is already lossy, this is a second generation of compression rather than a first. Re-encoding cannot recover what the original discarded, and it can add its own artefacts on top - usually around the high-contrast edges the first pass had already softened. What you gain here is reach rather than quality: WebP is universal in current browsers but still unreadable to plenty of desktop and print software.

Troubleshooting
Transparent areas came out white
Expected - JPG cannot store transparency. Convert to PNG or WebP instead if you need to keep it.
The JPG looks worse than the WebP it came from
Each lossy encode discards a little more. The WebP had already lost detail before it reached us, and this pass re-encodes what was left. Start from the highest-quality original you still have, and do not feed the result back through another conversion.
The output is larger than the original
Unusual, but it happens when the WebP was already heavily compressed. Try Compress Image instead of converting.
The upload is rejected before anything happens
The file is over the 20 MB cap. Compress it first, or split a long PDF into smaller files and process them separately.

Frequently asked questions
A little. WebP is already lossy, so converting to JPG is a second round of compression rather than a first - it cannot restore what was lost earlier, and it can add its own artefacts around high-contrast edges. Converting once is fine; repeatedly round-tripping between lossy formats is what does visible damage.
