When to use Compress Excel

For workbooks carrying logos, screenshots or product photos that push them past an attachment limit. Only the images are recompressed - cells, formulas and formatting are untouched, so the workbook still calculates exactly as before. A data-only spreadsheet has nothing to compress and will not shrink.

Troubleshooting

Nothing changed

The workbook holds no embedded images. Size is coming from row count or formulas, which compression here does not touch.

A chart image looks degraded

Charts saved as images get recompressed like any other. Use Basic to keep them sharp.

The upload is rejected before anything happens

The file is over the 20 MB cap. Compress it first, or split a long PDF into smaller files and process them separately.
